So I've had the game on PS3 since Launch day and I have to say I think it is a brilliant game. Despite IW having to release 4 patches to get the trophies and invite system working properly it's a cracking game.
Lets talk about online first. I'll keep it brief. The entire game itself plays like Call of Duty 4 so its easy to just pick up and play. There are plenty of new weapons, challenges, perks and maps to keep you entertained whether you're a noob or an elite player. I haven't had the chance to play all the maps yet as I seem to get the same few in the rotation which can be a bit annoying but they are bigger then COD4 and their are some I like such a Flava and Terminal, some I hate such as Afghan, and some I love such as Scrapyard. I'm a fan of small maps where there's not many places to camp and snipe (Shipment is my favourite map in COD4).
Unfortunately the game still suffers from poor match making, game balancing, lag, host connection issues and of course the dreaded cheaters with their lag switches. Hopefully IW will find a way to fix these problems as they aid to making it hard to enjoy.
Now as for single player there are 18 missions (I believe). Although I haven't completed the game yet (I'm on mission 15) I have to say its better then COD4 even though some of the missions are much shorter and there's no proper sniper mission such as All Ghillied Up on COD4.
I'm sure everyone's heard about the 'controversial' airport scene where you are undercover with a group of terrorists in a Russian and you massacre civilians. I have heard a lot of "this is disgusting" and "this is shocking" but personally I've done far worse to civilians in the Grand Theft Auto games as I think most people who have played it them.
Overall I think MW2 was a worth while purchase. In my own opinion it is not worth the £55RRP (no game is for that matter) but not many people will pay that except complete mugs. I paid £32 for it but there are many other people who paid even less. If you can afford to pick it up and enjoyed COD4 you'll love MW2.
