MAG beta

MAG (short for Massive Action Game) is an online FPS exclusively for PS3 which allows a whooping 256 people to play in one game. I was fortunate enough to net myself a beta code when the beta started a couple of months ago. After spending HOURS installing the game, then updating it I was in. The game itself has huge maps its very easy to get lost in until you get the gist of them. There has since been two big updates released, one to fix 8000 bugs and another to fix 6000 bugs.

With the servers now open 24/7 its easy to just pick up and play. The controls however do take some getting used to. For example you cant just cook a grenade and throw it with one button like you can on Call of Duty or Killzone 2. Instead you have to cook it with one button and throw it with another.

The features 3 private military factions:
Raven PMC - is described as high-tech and polished
S.V.E.R - is just like gang sort of
Valor - more of a tradition military force

I created my character with Raven.

The game is not about 256 running around killing each other there's more to it then that such as squads and objectives etc. The problem with the game though is many people just seem to run off and do what they like as opposed to actually achieving the objectives. Also the hit detection needs some work as there are times when you can empty a full clip into someone and they don't die but then kill you with one shot.

MAG has the potential to be the next big thing and if you were lucky enough to get in the beta I'd say make the most of it while it lasts.

Modern Warfare 2 - My thoughts

So I've had the game on PS3 since Launch day and I have to say I think it is a brilliant game. Despite IW having to release 4 patches to get the trophies and invite system working properly it's a cracking game.

Lets talk about online first. I'll keep it brief. The entire game itself plays like Call of Duty 4 so its easy to just pick up and play. There are plenty of new weapons, challenges, perks and maps to keep you entertained whether you're a noob or an elite player. I haven't had the chance to play all the maps yet as I seem to get the same few in the rotation which can be a bit annoying but they are bigger then COD4 and their are some I like such a Flava and Terminal, some I hate such as Afghan, and some I love such as Scrapyard. I'm a fan of small maps where there's not many places to camp and snipe (Shipment is my favourite map in COD4).

Unfortunately the game still suffers from poor match making, game balancing, lag, host connection issues and of course the dreaded cheaters with their lag switches. Hopefully IW will find a way to fix these problems as they aid to making it hard to enjoy.

Now as for single player there are 18 missions (I believe). Although I haven't completed the game yet (I'm on mission 15) I have to say its better then COD4 even though some of the missions are much shorter and there's no proper sniper mission such as All Ghillied Up on COD4.

I'm sure everyone's heard about the 'controversial' airport scene where you are undercover with a group of terrorists in a Russian and you massacre civilians. I have heard a lot of "this is disgusting" and "this is shocking" but personally I've done far worse to civilians in the Grand Theft Auto games as I think most people who have played it them.

Overall I think MW2 was a worth while purchase. In my own opinion it is not worth the £55RRP (no game is for that matter) but not many people will pay that except complete mugs. I paid £32 for it but there are many other people who paid even less. If you can afford to pick it up and enjoyed COD4 you'll love MW2.

WWE Raw DX Invasion Tour (O2 Arena - London) November 11th 2009

So last Wednesday me and my brother went to see the WWE Raw DX Invasion Tour show at the O2 Arena. The show was a non televised event AKA a house show. We arrived at the O2 just before 5pm and had to wait for an hour and half for the doors to open at 6.30pm. Once they were in we made our way to our seats. We were sat in block 102 - lower tier (level 1) and the seats were fantastic, we could see the ring and everything perfectly.

The show kicked off with Justin Roberts and an opening pyro which then led to a 12 man battle royal which I believe Chris Jericho won if I remember correctly.

We then had an ECW match with Hurricane Helms and someone else I'd never heard of as I don't watch ECW. Anyway the match wasn't that great and Hurricane lost.

The United States Championship was then on the line as The Miz defended against MVP. The match was a solid match but it was The Miz who took the victory thus retaining the US Championship.

Next was a divas tag team match as Melina and Gail Kim took on Jillian Hall and Alicia Fox. The match was pretty good with the divas doing more moves then you see them do on TV. Melina hit her finisher on Jillian to win the match.

Chavo Guerrero wrestled Evan Bourne next. The match had a lot of high flying moves in it and was very impressive. Bourne hit the Shooting Star Press (which looks so much more impressive live then it does on TV) to pick up the win.

It was then time for the interval which lasted about 15 minutes or so. After the interval the Honey Monster came out (yes you read correctly) the Honey Monster (The tour was brought to us by the Honey Monster... apparently).

Next match of the night was Randy Orton VS Kofi Kingston which was very impressive. Orton did his classic Legend Killer pose a few times and dominated most of the match. Kofi did get some offence and pulled out some very impressive moves but Orton hit the RKO and picked up the 3 count and the victory.

Are you ready?
We certainly were as D-Generation X (Triple H and Shawn Michaels) made their way to the ring to the crowd going nuts and doing the X sign with their glow sticks. Triple H and Shawn threw some glow sticks out to the crowd. A couple of people threw them back at them. Legacy (Ted Dibiase and Cody Rhodes) the made their entrance and the match was under way. The match swung back and forth with both teams having control. Triple H held Ted up in the suplex position for a good 30 seconds before slamming him down to the mat. Also during the match Cody done the DX crotch chop at Triple H which made everyone laugh and cheer. Triple H hit the Pedigree at the same time Shawn hit the Sweet Chin music. It was DX who won after both of them pinned Legacy.

It was now time for the main event and it was for the WWE Championship as John Cena defended against Chris Jericho. Jericho came out first and took to the mic insulting the fans as he does to get some heat. The fans proceeded to pelt the ring with the DX glow sticks. They came flying at Jericho from all angles. John Cena's music hit and the O2 erupted as the WWE Champion made his way to the ring. (This can be watched on my youtube channel please check it out and comment, rate and subscribe). The match itself was fantastic with control swinging back and forth, both wrestlers kicking out of each others finishers and breaking each others submission holds until John Cena hit the FU (or Attitude Adjustment as its now called) to win the match.

John Cena then took to the mic for a bit, said some things, thanked everyone for coming to see them and the show ended.

All in all it was a brilliant night. I have put some of the best videos on my youtube channel so please view them.
